A Chicago woman and her dog are lucky to be alive after a scary incident. Samantha Basar was crossing the street with her dog, Dobbs, when a Jeep Cherokee plowed into both of them.Security footage from a liquor store captured the terrifying ordeal. At first, the car is stopped, appearing to let Samantha and her pup cross the road using the crosswalk. But the driver, who is clearly not paying attention, then hits the gas and slams into the two of them. Samantha is thrown into the road, while Dobbs gets caught underneath the car. Dobbs gets up and darts off.
Luckily, Samantha was OK. She was even able to run after her dog and find him a few blocks away, with the help of others, including the driver.
In the video, when watching the footage back, Samantha gasps. She can't believe she made out it alive. But she's incredibly grateful. She even says surviving the incident has brought her and her rescue pup closer together.
