The buyer named Wendy Weimei Wu is reported to be a Remuera based property developer who listed her occupation as 'housewife', according to news website Stuff.co.nz.

Slipper Island is located near New Zealand's North Island, Coromandel. It was described as "the best beach in the world" because of its high privacy. The deal involves about 217 hectares of land, including six houses, stunning beaches and an airstrip. According to Stuff, the remaining 7 hectares of land on this island had already been subdivided and sold separately.

Wu's daughter, Vivienne Zhuo, a real estate agent, said she had helped with negotiations for the Slipper Island deal. She said her mother "just loves the island" and "it's a toy for her". She remarked that their lawyer is now handling things.

Real estate agent Brian Brakenridge confirmed the above information, saying "transaction contract has been signed," and it was likely take a month to process transactions formalities. The sale price is said to be around NZ $ 7.5 million.

Wu made headlines after she spent $15 million buying historic Fairholm mansion in the Auckland suburb of Remuera - New Zealand's biggest private home sale of the year 2010.
